Brewis, V.G., F/Lt., 1944
In Hoorn General Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 116962 Flight Lieutenant Victor George Brewis, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 06/06/1944.

F/Lt V G Brewis (Service Nš 116962) was killed in Mosquito FB Mk VI NT122 of 605 Sqn, in which he was the navigator. The Mosquito crashed into the Ijsselmeer at 02.00 hours on June 6th 1944, in unknown circumstances. The pilot was F/Lt Arthur Whitten-Brown, son of Lt Colonel Sir Arthur Whitten-Brown. He was the navigator on the first successful non stop flight across the Atlantic in 1919, along with pilot John Alcock.
