Watson, J., Pte., 1916
In Maple Copse Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 3477 Private James Watson, serving with the 1st/7th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 15/02/1916.

Morpeth Herald 17/03/1916 carries a brief obituary:

Mr and Mrs Watson, New Barns Farm, Warkworth, have received information that their son, Private James Watson, 7th N.F., was killed in France on February 14th [sic] by the bursting of a shell.

Pte. Watson is remembered at Warkworth on W.16.01 and W.16.03 and in the Regimental Book of Remembrance A11.59 (Buckley, F., War History of the Seventh Northumberland Fusiliers, Newcastle upon Tyne, T.M. Grierson, Printer, [N.D.])
