In Amble West Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:
In loving memory of
Polly Brodie
beloved wife of Robert
died 20th April 1967 aged 80 years.
Also of the above Robert Brodie
died 27th Nov. 1971 aged 87 years.
And their son William Smith Brodie
died 23rd August 1989 aged 79 years.
Also their dear son Walter
killed in action at El Alamein
Nov. 3rd 1942 aged 34 years.
He is remembered in Amble on A13.06 and A13.10 and in Radcliffe on R32.01
