On the Helles Memorial is the name of KX/312 Able Seaman William F. Beat, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

William was born on 12th September 1894 and was working as a miner living with his father, William, at 10, Perkins Street, Scotswood when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 4th September 1914. He transferred to the Royal Naval Division on 9th September 1914 and joined the Hood Battalion. He was posted to the Middle East Force and served at Gallipoli until he was posted as missing on 4th June 1915 and later reported as being killed in action on this date.

William Beat is remembered in Scotswood on S84.01 and S84.02
