Miller, J.A., A/Smn., 1917
In Queens Cemetery, Bucquoy is the Commonwealth War Grave of KX/457 Able Seaman Joseph Alexander Miller, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/02/1917.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

Joseph was born on 30th June 1893. He was working as a miner living with his wife, Martha at 7, St. Margarets Road, West Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 4th September 1914.

After transferring to the RNVR on 7th September 1914 he joined the Hood Battalion in Antwerp on 9th September 1914. Joseph suffered shrapnel wounds to both legs in Gallipoli on 6th May 1915.

He returned to the Hood Battalion on 24th July 1915 and was hospitalised on 27th September 1915 suffering from Jaundice.

Joseph rejoined the Hood Battalion on 2nd December 1915 and returned to the UK on 22nd August 1916 and then joined the Hawke Battalion in France on 26th November 1916. Joseph was killed in action on 4th February 1917.
