On Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/4300 Able Seaman Thomas Fox, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 31/05/1916.

In Newcastle upon Tyne (All Saints) Cemetery is a headstone which reads:

In loving memory of Ann Fox
died June 18th 1938 aged 72 years
Also James husband of the above
died April 8th 1934, aged 67 years
Also James son of the above
died Feb. 1st 1929, aged 38 years.
Also Annie daughter of the above
died Aug. 23rd 1918 aged 18 years
Also Thomas son of the above
drowned in the battle of Jutland
May 31st 1916, aged 23 years.

The Newcastle Journal 08/06/1916 reports:

LOCAL MEN LOST IN THE NAVAL BATTLE
The Admiralty announce that the following men, all able seamen belonging to the RNVR Tyne Division, were lost in the North Sea Battle:-
Invincible - William Davey, Thomas Elkin, Thomas Fox, C Clark Hands, William Hunter, G William Mitchell, William G Pentland, Isaiah Webster, John Wright

Thomas Fox is remembered in Newcastle on NUT045 and on our List of Ships’ crews
