Errington, W., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of KP/362 Able Seaman William Errington, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 06/05/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

William was born on 16th July 1892 and was working as a plater, living with his parents, John and Isabella at 51, Bethel Street, Byker when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 3rd September 1914. (He had previous service with the Regiment).

He transferred to the RNVR on 10th September 1914 and joined the Drake Battalion on 3rd November 1914 and served with them until he was posted as missing, assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on 6th May 1915. AB Moth stated "Errington was wounded on the 5th or 6th May and was taken to the doctor by the Marine Band stretcher bearers."

William Errington is remembered in Byker on B95.17
