Brindley, J., Engineman, 1945
On Lowestoft Naval Memorial is the name of LT/X 3135U Engineman Joseph Brindley serving with the Royal Naval Reserve (Patrol Service) who died 02/05/1945.

Ron Carson has provided the following:

Joseph was born 1903 at Newcastle upon Tyne, the son of Thomas and Mary Ann and the husband of Elizabeth Jane of Newcastle.

Joseph served with the Royal Naval Reserve (Patrol Service) and was a crew member aboard H.M. Trawler ‘Ebor Wyke’. The ship was built by Cochrane & Sons of Selby and was completed in 1929. Joseph died on 2 May 1945, aged 42, when the ship was hit by two torpedoes from U.979 off Hrafneyri Light, 7 miles north of Skagi, Iceland, with only one survivor of a crew of 24 men.
