Bell, H., 2nd Lieut., 1916
In Serre Road Cemetery No.2 is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2nd Lieutenant Harold Bell, serving with the 4th Battalion (Hull), East Yorkshire Regiment who died 13/11/1916.

Born 1st January 1894, in Byker. Son of Martha Cummins Bell, of 11, Egerton Rd., Tyne Dock, South Shields, and the late William John Bell. A Theological Student.

He resided in 1901, at 2 Farnham Road, and in 1911, 133 Stoddart St, Tyne Dock, South Shields.

He enlisted in the 4th Battalion (Hull) of the East Yorkshire Regiment, but was in the 13th Battalion when he was killed in action at the Somme on 13th November 1916, at the age of 22.

He is remembered at Harton on H104.03 at South Shields on S86.09 and at Byker on B95.01
