Plaque Bell 1916 All Saints

All Saints’ Church, West Harton

1914-18

Dedicated 24th July 1921 by the Bishop of Durham.

Marble plaque, wood frame.

To the Glory of God and in Sacred Remembrance of
Harold, aged 22 years
late 2nd Lieut. in the 13th East Yorks. Regt.
The dear elder son of Mrs. M.C. and the late W.J. Bell
killed in action on the 13th November 1916.

“For the cause of freedom and humanity”.

Plaque.

It has a heavy ornate wood frame with half-rounded centre top, and rolled moulded edges ending in a scroll at the bottom on both sides.

The central plaque bears the dedication. In the rounded top is the regimental badge.

The lettering is incised in elongated Roman capitals.
