Information: Geordie at War Project
In Benwell (St.James) Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:
Frederick
Son of the above
Killed in action
At Dardanelles
May 6th 1915
Aged 21 years.
The Geordie at War Project states:
“This is Frederick Keenleyside’s Attestation Form which shows he volunteered on 13 October 1914 shortly after the start of the war. His name has been miss-spelt Kinleyside. Frederick has no known grave and is listed on the Helles Memorial in Gallipoli.”
Frederick Keenleyside is remembered at Scotswood on S84.01 and S84.02
