Colin Boyd has provided the following:
Charles was born on 22nd June 1896 and was an apprentice fitter and turner living with his father, Charles, at 3, South View Terrace, South Benwell when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 11th September 1914.
He was posted to the Howe Battalion on 3rd November 1914 and was killed in action in Gallipoli on 2nd May 1915.
Charles Robert Bell is remembered in Benwell on B86.02 and B86.19a
