Cooke, J., 2nd Lieut., 1916

In Wallsend Church Bank Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Jack
the dearly
beloved husband of
Annie Cooke
and beloved son of
William & Charlotte Cooke
Rose Hill, Willington-on-Tyne
2nd Lieut. D.L.I. attached Royal Flying Corps
who met his death on June 20th 1916,
while flying over the German lines.
He was buried at Achiet-le-Petit, France
aged 30 years.
Also the burial place of
Charlotte, wife of William
and mother of the above Jack Cooke
who died March 13th 1922 aged 68 years.

Jack Cooke is remembered in Wallsend on W7.04 and W7.19 page 23 and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance page 157
