In Aveluy Wood Cemetery (Lancashire Dump) Mesnil-Martinsart is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2nd Lieutenant Charles Lovatt, serving with the 26th Battalion, (3rd Tyneside Irish), Northumberland Fusiliers who died 12/04/1918.

He worked at Harton Colliery.

He was attached from the 4th Bedfordshire Regiment and had been wounded 23/10/1917. He was awarded the M.C.

He is remembered at South Shields on S86.051
