He was the son of Robert Newton and Hannah Crane of 11 Woodlands Terrace, South Shields.

His birth was registered in South Shields during the March quarter of 1893.

He is remembered at South Shields on S86.046, S86.102 and S86.143 and on our List of Ships’ crews
