Coyle, G., Pte., 1916

In Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz is the Commonwealth War Grave of 16912 Private G. Coyle, serving with the Yorkshire Regiment who died 01/07/1916.

He was the son of Patrick and Rosa Anne McConnell who, according to the 1901 Census, had 5 children. He was born 7th March 1895 and baptised in St. Bede's Church, Jarrow on 3rd April 1895. The 1911 Census states that he was a rivet heater at Palmer's Shipyard. He married Elizabeth Tokell in 1915 and had a son in 1916.

Following his death, she received £8 6s. 0d as the sole legatee of this estate. She later remarried and became Elizabeth Brown.

In the group photo, Pte. Coyle is seated at the extreme left.
