In Vevey (St. Martin's) Cemetery, Switzerland is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1501026 Sergeant (Wireless Operator/Air Gunner) William Gowland Anderson serving with the 101 Squadron Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 28/04/1944.

Father, in thy gracious keeping leave we now thy servant sleeping

Son of William and May Anderson, of Murton, Co. Durham.

In Murton Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

In loving memory of Robert
beloved son of
Thomas and May Anderson
died through injuries Aug. 1st 1944 aged 18 years
Also his brother
Sergt. W.G. Anderson R.A.F. (WOAC)
killed on operations over Germany
April 28th 1944 aged 21 years

William Gowland Anderson is remembered at Murton on M47.01, M47.07 and M47.12 as William C. Anderson

He is remembered as W.G. Anderson in a RAF Book of Remembrance
