Memorial Description

Two plaques each 2 feet high x 7 inches wide set into the oak screen. Names are in a single column on each, lettering painted in black, using serif capitals throughout. The dedication is in the brass panel above, incised in Gothic lettering, with a wide border of floral design around.

The Durham Chronicle 28/07/1950 reports;-
The 1914-18 plates had been cleaned and re-arranged so that they are to the north side of the chancel screen and those dedicated were fixed to the panel on the south side, the arrangements being carried out by two church members Messrs. J Oliver and J Shaw. There are 72 names on the panel including five women and others lost in the bombing raid on Murton.
