Gooding, C., Sjt., 1916
In Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension is the Commonwealth War Grave of 5/1893 Serjeant Cyril Gooding, serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 18/09/1916.

The Cricket Club Unveiling Programme gives the following:

Sergt. C. Gooding.

As a member of the Territorials was called up on the outbreak of war, he being attached to the 5th D.L.I. In April, 1915, he went to France as a Lance-Corporal, and was wounded a month later. Proceeding again to France in February 1916, as a Corporal, he was afterwards promoted to Sergeant, and was killed in September 18 of the same year.
