In St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 12574 Private Valentine Dixon serving with the 10th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 28/09/1916.

Son of John Henry and Eleanor Dixon. Born at Newcastle-on-Tyne.

In Washington Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

In loving memory of
Eleanor
beloved wife of
John Henry Dixon
who died 26th November 1911
aged 48 years
Also Nellie Oswald
beloved daughter of the above
who died at Napier, New Zealand
26th June 1907 aged 23 years
Also my dear son
Pte. Valentine Dixon V.C. (above Recommended)
10th Batl. D.L.I. died of wounds received
in action September 28th 1916 aged 22 years
Buried at Rouen France

And leaving in battle no blot on his name
Looked proudly to heaven from his death bed
of fame
