A Faithful Son Who Counted It Not Loss But Gain To Have Given His All
Son of Robert and Ellen Holt, of New Washington, Co. Durham.
In Washington Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-
In loving memory of
a dear son and brother
Lieut. John Scott Burnett Holt
6th Btn Durham Light Infantry
killed in action in Sicily
August 6th 1943 aged 27 years
Also a dear husband and dad
Robert Holt
Died September 15th 1943 aged 52 years
Also a dear wife and mother
Ellen Holt
died February 5th 1970 aged 78 years
also their son in law
Robert Wilson
died Jan. 30th 1989 aged 73 years
a dear dad and granddad
and beloved husband of
Doreen Wilson
So deeply loved so sorely missed
