Harold Braley was born 15th April 1920. He resided at 39 James Armitage Street.

Harold joined the Royal Artillery 9th April 1939.

917080 Gunner Harold Braley was a driver in the 125th Anti-Tank Regiment. He was captured by the Japanese 15th February 1942 and was released 2nd September 1945.

Harold was discharged on the 11th March 1946. He married Vera Moore in 1948.

Photocopy of the war diary of 125th Anti-Tank Regiment Royal Artillery (RA) (1st January - 19th February 1942) covering the unit's arrival off Singapore in HMT EMPRESS OF ASIA, the abandoning of ship under heavy Japanese aerial bombardment (5th February), the unit's actions based at Serangoon Road, and withdrawals to Mount Pleasant Road positions, the arrangements for a ceasefire, and the march to Changi POW camp, is available at the IWM.
