In Copenhagen (Bispebjerg) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1359883 Sergeant Thomas Edwain Hall, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 21/04/1943.

Sgt Shield was the Navigator/Bomb Aimer aboard Short Stirling III BF463 WP-Q of 90 Squadron, which was shot down on a mission to Rostock. The Stirling was shot down by flak, and crashed at 00.19 hours into the Storebaelt channel, near the island of Sprogo, within the loss of all seven crew members.
