On the Arras Memorial to the Missing is the name of 23/1043 Private George Stobbart serving with the 9th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 23/05/1917.

Son of William and Mary A. Stobbart. of Easington Lane, Co. Durham; husband of Eliza Payne (formerly Stobbart), of 2, Mines St., Hetton Dowhs, Hetton-le-Hole, Co. Durham.

In (Hetton) Easington Lane Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

dearly beloved husband of Elizabeth Stobbart
who was killed in action May 23rd 1917
aged 30 years
also William
son of the above
who died March 15th 1917
aged 9 years and 9 months

son of the above
