In (Hetton) Easington Lane Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

In affectionate remembrance of
Sarah Nicholson
dearly beloved daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Nicholson
of Easington Lane
who died Nov. 14th 1912
aged 25 years
Also our dear son
Pte. William Nicholson
of the 18th D.L.I. who was killed in action
on the Arras Front June 29th 1917
aged 23 years
