On the Arras memorial to the Missing, Pas de Calais, France, is the name of G/19610 Private Robert Willis Wood Gardner serving with the 10th Battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) who died 23/03/1918.

Son of the late Robert Willis Gardner and Rachel Gardner; husband of Elizabeth Gardner, of 55, Lillywhite Terrace, Easington Lane, Hettonle-Hole, Co. Durham.

In (Hetton) Easington Lane Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

who died Oct. 31st 1915
aged 52 years

the dear husband of
