In Dilsen Churchyard, Limburg, Belgium, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 988208 Sergeant Thomas Henry Marquiss, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 09/07/1941.

Sgt Marquiss was killed when Handley Page Hampden I AD924 of 144 Squadron was lost on a mission to Aachen. The Hampden crashed near Dilsen, and Sgt Marquiss, a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner, was killed along with one other member of the crew. Of the other two crew, one was made a P.o.W., whilst the other evaded capture.
