On Thiepval memorial to the Missing France is the name of 18707 Lance Corporal John Trotter serving with the 13th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 19/09/1916.

In Christ Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:

James Trotter
died June 24th 1914
aged 54? years
Mary Trotter
beloved wife of the above
died Aug. ??1923 aged 61 years
Also their son
Thomas died Dec. 30th 1912 aged 23 years
Also John killed in action in France Sept. 20th 1916 aged 25 years
James accidentally killed August 20th 1918 aged 18 years
