In Rheinberg War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 107716 Flight Sergeant Norman Davidson Cameron, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 02/01/1944.

F/Sgt. Cameron was serving with 97 squadron. He was a crew member of Lancaster III JA960 OF-K which took off from Bourn on a mission to Berlin. On the return journey the aircraft was hit by flak and crashed. All the crew died.

This was a night when 31 aircraft were lost with an average crew of 7 men per aircraft. A few were taken prisoner, but most died.

Heslop's Local Advertiser 18/01/1947 reads:
Cameron - 19 Doddington Villas, Windy Nook, Fl/Sgt. Norman, W.Op., R.A.F.V.R. killed in air operation over Germany, Jan. 1st, 1944.

The edition for 18/12/1948 carries:
"Cameron- 19 Doddington Villas, Windy Nook. Fl/Sgt. Norman, killed on Active Service, Jan. 1, 1944."

He is remembered in Windy Nook on W95.01
