In Rheinberg War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1535677 Sergeant (Bomb Aimer) John Rutter, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 17/04/1943.

Sgt. Rutter was a bomber aiming member of the crew of 100 Sqdn. Lancaster III ED 563 BW-G which took off from Grimsby on a sortie to Plzen. The aircraft crashed near Saarbrücken. All the crew died.
