MARLEY HILL

Treglown, R., Sergt., D.C.M., 1914-18
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 23/07/1919 reports:

The D.C.M. has been awarded to Sergeant Treglown, of Cuthbert Street, Marley Hill, for conspicuous bravery on the field in gallantly bringing in a wounded man under the enemy’s bombardment. Sergt. Treglown, who was one of the first to enlist, is a deputy at Messrs. Bowes and Partners Colliery, Marley Hill.

The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 12/06/1920 reports:

“The Oak Leaf Emblem has been awarded to Sergeant Richard Treglower (sic), of Cuthbert Sreet, Marley Hill, for being mentioned in despatches. Some time ago he was presented with the D.C.M. for conspicuous bravery on the field of battle for bringing in a wounded man under heavy shell firing. Sergeant Treglower is a deputy at Messrs. Bowes and Partners Marley Hill Colliery.”

He is remembered at Burnopfield on B155.05
