In Birr Cross Roads Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 10486 Private James Balmer, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 20/11/1915.

CWGC states that he was born in Wooler, and his parents lived in Gateshead.

Soldiers Died in the Great War states that he was born in Blyth and enlisted in Bedlington.

His brothers George and John also died.

James Balmer is remembered in Teams on T68.02
