In Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gouy is the Commonwealth War Grave of 235726 Private Joseph Stott, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 08/10/1918.

Joseph Stott was born in about 1886, the oldest of six children of Robert and Mary Stott of 6 Ravensworth Villas, Wrekenton. He was the brother of Edwin John Stottwho is also remembered on the memorial. On the 1911 census the family lived at 2 Ravensworth Villas, Wrekenton. His father was a self employed master saddler and Joseph was a shop assistant possibly in his father's business. Stotts Saddlers was still in business in Wrekenton until at least 1960 along Black Road beside Wrekenton Methodist Church.

Joseph served as a Private with the Northumberland Hussars, regimental number 270426. He later transferred to 12/13th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, regimental number either 34207 or 235726. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 8th October 1918. His buried in the Prospect Hill Cemetery at Gouy, France.
