In Coventry (London Road) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 4445289 Serjeant Michael Gibson, serving with the Royal Engineers who died 18/10/1940.

The Journal 01/01/2013 tells the story of how he was awarded the George Cross for bravery whilst working on bomb disposal. He was killed before he could receive it personally. The family sold the medal in the 1960s during hard times to a private collector. In 2013 the medal was sold at auction for £93,000.
