In Lapugnoy Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 19212 Private William Clavering Gallon, serving with the 10th (Service) Battalion, Alexandra Princess of Wales's Own (Yorkshire Regiment) who died 02/10/1915.

William Clavering Gallon was born 12th October 1878, in Gateshead, Durham, the son of William Gallon and his wife Jane Ann, daughter of Thomas Purvis.

He was educated at the Board School in Gateshead. William's occupation was described as a General Dealer.

He enlisted in September 1914 and was sent to France on the 9th September 1915, but died on the 2nd October from wounds received at the Battle of Loos. He was single.
