Jefferson, J.W., Cpl., 1917
In Buttes New British Cemetery, Polygon Wood is the Commonwealth War Grave of 31599 Corporal John Waugh Jefferson serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 22/10/1917.

His name is included in a booklet on the names on the Wolsingham Cenotaph compiled by Morris Ward, which adds that his last known occupation was as an Assistant Forester..

He is remembered in Wolsingham on W128.02 and W128.05 and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance page 292
