In Jerusalem War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 57054 Trooper Edward Lishman Emerson serving with the Wellington Mounted Rifles New Zealand Expeditionary Force, who died 16/10/1918.

The Auckland and County Chronicle for 04/03/1920 reports:-

After spending a few weeks amongst their relatives Mr and Mrs Thomas Emerson are returning home to New Zealand somewhat earlier than they anticipated. The route is also being changed, so that they will be prevented from visiting their only son's grave at Jerusalem. Mr and Mrs Emerson left Wolsingham on Monday evening.

He is included in a booklet on the names on the Wolsingham Cenotaph compiled by Morris Ward. It also states that his last known occupation was as Cheesemaker.

Edward Lishman Emerson is remembered at Wolsingham on W128.05 and as E.L. Emmerson on W128.02
