Robinson, C.L., Lt.Col., 1915
On Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial is the name of Lieutenant Colonel Charles Lawson Robinson, serving with the Monmouthshire Regiment who died 08/05/1915.

In St Andrew's Old Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of Captain B.L. Robinson.

The headstone reads:-

In loving memory of
Bertram Langhorne Robinson
Capt. A.S.C. T.F.
who died Sept. 6th 1917 aged 43 years

Also of Charles Lawson Robinson
Lieut. Colonel 1st Battery Mon. Regt. T.F.
Killed in action near Ypres May 8th 1915 and interred there aged 45 years

Lieutenant Colonel Charles Lawson ROBINSON, T.D., Monmouthshire Regiment, 1st Battalion

The son of Robert Robinson of Howlish Hall, Bishop Auckland, County Durham. A Colliery Viewer, he was Initiated into Wear Valley Lodge No 1121, Province of Durham on the 8th May 1896; Passed 10th July 1896 and Raised on the 9th October 1896, resigning in September 1899. He was a Joining Member of Isca Lodge No 683, Province of Monmouthshire on the 19th May 1898 when his occupation was given as a Mine Inspector, resigning on 1st November 1910. He served in the South African War and was killed in action on the 8th May 1915 aged 45. He is remembered on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West Vlaanderen, Belgium, Panel 50. His name appears on a Memorial In St. John’s Church, Maindee, Newport.
