Wright, W., W/O, 1945
In Medjez-al-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 550968 Warrant Officer William Wright, serving with the Royal Air Force, who died 01/02/1945.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

W/O Wright was killed when Avro York C.1 MW116 of 511 Sqn crashed en route to Yalta, killing several of the crew passengers. The York came down off Lampedusa, due to a navigational error. Wright had joined 211 Sqn in 1937 as an air gunner, completing many sorties over Palestine in 1938.

Also killed in the same incident was LAC John Chicken

He is remembered in High Etherley on H127.01 and at Bishop Auckland on B140.01.01
