In Medjez-al-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1467778 Leading Aircraftman John Chicken, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 01/02/1945.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

LAC Chicken was killed when Avro York C.1 MW116 of 511 Sqn crashed en route to Yalta, killing several of the crew passengers. The York came down off Lampedusa, due to a navigational error.

Also killed in the same incident was W/Off. William Wright

He is remembered in Shiney Row on S124.08
