Sgt.Roxby was killed when Avro Lancaster PB385 EA-V of 49 Squadron was lost on a mission to Dusseldorf. The Lancaster was shot down by a Luftwaffe night fighter, and crashed some 4 miles from Duren, with the loss of all seven crew members.
