In Sage War Cemetery, Germany, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 997434 Flight Sergeant Robert English, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 05/01/1945.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

F/Sgt. English was the rear gunner of Handley Page Halifax III LL597 DY-X of 102 Squadron, which was lost on a mission to Hanover. The Halifax was attacked by a Luftwaffe night fighter and exploded in mid-air, the wreckage coming down about 3 miles south west of Wardenburg. Of the eight crew members, only three survived.
