In Croix-Rouge Military Cemetery, Quaedypre is the Commonwealth War Grave of 242801 Private William Herbert Minniss, serving with the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) who died 11/08/1918.

In West Rainton Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:-

James Minniss
of Bens Ville Leamside
who died April 24th 1925 aged 74 years
Also Mary E. Minniss
wife of the above
died July 22nd 1927 aged 70 years
Also William H. Minniss their son
died of wounds at Dunkerque August 11th 1918
aged 30 years
