Husband of Barbara Ann McIntosh, of 14 Wood St., Kimblesworth, Durham. Served in France.

The Chester-le-Street Chronicle 03/01/1919 reports

Driver James McIntosh, R.F.A. whose wife and five children live at 14 Wood Street Kimblesworth has succumbed to the ravages of the 'flu' followed by pneumonia. The deceased joined the army in 1915 and went through the war in many severe engagements for two years in France and never received a scratch or had a say's illness.

He came home on leave in October and was taken ill with Influenza and after a fortnight was transferred to Armstrong College at Newcastle where he died and was buried in St Cuthbert's Durham with military honours.

Previous to joining up he was engaged at Kimblesworth Colliery. That the deceased was held in great respect by the officers, N.C.O.s and men of his regiment was shown in a very practical manner. On hearing of his death a subscription was set on foot with the result that £22 has been forwarded to Mrs McIntosh, together with a letter of sympathy.

William James McIntosh is remembered at Durham on D47.038 and at Kimblesworth on K24.02 and K24.03
