The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 18/18/1916 reports:
“Military Medal for Kelloe man.
Pte. Fenwick Hewison, (sic) Yorks Regiment, of Green Street, Kelloe, who is at present in a hospital at Birkenhead, recovering from wounds, has been awarded the Military Medal for carrying a wounded soldier out of danger during heavy Maxim and rifle fire.”
Fenwick Hewitson is remembered in Kelloe on K22.02 and K22.03
