In Geel (Stelen) Churchyard, Antwerpen, Belgium, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 4452553 Private George Thomas Etherington serving with the 8th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry who died 09/09/1944.

Years shall not darken nor shadows dim the beautiful memories I have of him

Son of George and Gladys Etherington; husband of Kathleen Etherington, of Durham.

In Brandon Meadowfield Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-

In loving memory of
Elizabeth Heslop
died 22nd March 1948 aged 81 years
also John James her husband
died 16th August 1952 aged 86 years
also their son in law
George S. Etherington
died 13th Feb. 1960 aged 66 years
also Zaida Gladys his wife
died 8th Nov. 1976 aged 82 years
Also George T. Etherington their son
fell in action 9th Sept. 1944 aged 23 years

George Thomas Etherington is remembered at Durham on D47.054 and at Meadowfield on M50.02
