Hawke Battn. R.N.D.
1st November 1918 Age 21

Son of Mr. J. D. Grocock and Mrs. M. E. Grocock, of Wellington Cottage, Langley Moor, Co. Durham.

GROCOCK, H.
Born 12th November 1896, the son of Mr J.D. and Mrs M.E. Grocock of Wellington Cottage, Langley Moor.

He was a pupil at Durham Johnston school.

On leaving school worked Brandon Colliery Station as Passenger Clerk.

He joined the Royal Navy as Able Seaman H. Grocock of ‘Hawke’ Bn, RN Div, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Tyneside Z/5138

He died of wounds on 1st November 1918, aged 21.

Medals: British War Medal and Victory Medal

His name is included in NER Staff Magazine Jan 1917, page 7 which contains a photo.

Harry Grocock is remembered in York on N.E.R. Roll of Honour; in Durham on D47.025 and in Meadowfield on M50.01 and M50.05
