In Maubert-Fontaine Communal Cemetery, Ardennes, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of Sergeant (Air Gunner) 1522817 Sergeant Leo Lanaghan, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 31/03/1944.

Sgt Lanaghan was killed when Handley Page Halifax III LV899 EY-Q of 78 Squadron was lost on a mission to Nurnberg. It is believed the Halifax was shot down by a Luftwaffe night fighter on the return journey, and it crashed near Maybert-Fontaine, in the French Ardennes, with the loss of all seven crew members.
