Williamson, A., Pte., 1915
In Hill 10 Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 17806 Private Ambrose Williamson serving with the 9th Battalion, The Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorks Regiment) who died 24/11/1915.

Ambrose Williamson was the eldest son of William Williamson, a Miner, and his wife Emma, daughter of Ambrose Gowland. He was born at Sunnybrow, Durham on the 17th March 1888. He was also a Miner.

Ambrose was educated at Kelloc [Kelloe]. He was married at Easington on the 21st January 1911, to Jane Elizabeth, (3 Cross Row, Trimdon Colliery, Durham,) daughter of John Local.

They had two sons William, born 14th January 1913 and Ambrose, born 8th August 1915.

Ambrose enlisted on the 7th January 1915 and served in the Gallipoli campaign. He was killed at Sulva Bay on the 24th November 1915.
