In Spennymoor (Tudhoe) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 84634 Private William Sanderson serving with the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) who died 19/10/1917.

Son of John and Isabella Sanderson, of Ash Tree House, Tudhoe Village; husband of the late M. E. Sanderson.

The headstone reads:-

beloved husband of
Isabella Sanderson
who died 27th September 1914
aged 59 years

beloved wife of the above
who died 6th August 1948
aged 92 years

aged 29 years

aged 35 years
